My timing coincided with the Medieval Festival which attracted huge crowds; when I left there was a long line of people waiting to buy tickets to enter the castle

The castle had fallen into ruin when it was purchased in 1827 with the intent to rebuild it; multiple wars hindered efforts with the castle not being fully restored until 1990

It was toasty when I visited but I guess it gets cold here; photos I've seen of the country in fall are magnificent when the leaves change color
